Throughout the Summer, there was consistent belief that Man Utd would sign Jadon Sancho. Although Borussia Dortmund gave a firm deadline for any transfer business, Man Utd tried to call their bluff… but they failed.
Now it would seem that Manchester United won’t get Sancho at all, with Liverpool & Chelsea waiting in the wings.
Is the Liverpool Interest Serious?
Apparantly so. It’s a wide-known fact that Liverpool don’t splash the cash, typically relying on sales in order to fund their new acquisitions. However, the FSG group are also well aware that they need to continually strengthen, where required.
Diogo Jota has been recruited & whilst he provides a threat in attack, he’s a considerable downgrade on Salah & Mane. These two have been playing wonderful football now for years, but they’ve also shown how much Liverpool rely on them. At 28 years old, they’ve got plenty left in the tank, but, Liverpool fans will be wondering who will ‘take the torch’ and offer the next generation of attack.
He wouldn’t be a cheap acquisition, but Jadon Sancho could easily fit into this Liverpool side. The Premier League champions could make a real statement, by signing one of the most sought after talents on the planet. Alongside Mbappe & Haaland, Jadon Sancho is a player which most teams dream to sign.
Another thing which would leave Liverpool fans licking their lips, could be the fact that Liverpool have stolen the player that Man Utd tried and failed to.
It would be a great success story for Liverpool, who have had their share of knockbacks in recent transfer windows. Chelsea have been the real thorn in their side, taking Pulisic & Werner when Liverpool were heavily rumoured.
Liverpool could be the most realistic option for sancho after man utd’s transfer failures.
We aren’t ruling Manchester United out, but after one round of failed negotiations you could well expect things to turn sour in future negotiations. Other wingers have also been taken off the table, with Federico Chiesa on loan, with an option to buy at Juventus.
Ousmane Dembele was an alternative, but it’s rumoured Man Utd wanted a loan with an obligation to buy. Barcelona were less enthusiastic about this.
