In 2015, Arsenal signed Donyell Malen from Ajax & he was tipped for stardom. He was just 16 years old at the time, and spent 2 years at the Emirates. He didn’t end up making a senior appearance, although he did score over 40 goals for their reserve outfit.
In 2017, he was offered a contract extension, with a significant wage increase. Donyell rejected this, as he wanted gametime. He made the difficult decision to leave the Premier League completely, transferring to PSV for just over £500,000.
He’s showed fantastic signs that he’s progressing & has a great chance of reaching his potential, with 33 goals & 16 assists at the Dutch club.
With Mino Raiola as his agent, there’s a great chance that he’s going to be touted to clubs in 2021. Mino has most of the best talents in world football & is well-known for his management of wonderkids. The difficult decision for Donyell Malen is whether he fancies another shot at the Emirates. He’s already been there one, albeit at a very young age, but couldn’t get into the team.
There will be a lineup of clubs vying for his signature & rightly so. Holland have some exciting talent coming through, adding to the ranks of Memphis Depay & co. Malen has recently returned from Knee Surgery which kept him out for most of the 19/20 season, but he will be focused on returning to his previous form.
Donyell operates as a Forward, although he has featured on the right wing a few times also. His finishing is very good for a young player, and it should only improve as he reaches his peak.
He’s rated as £20 million on Transfermarkt, but I think the fee could end up doubling this, as Malen is a fantastic talent. Providing he can overcome his previous injury, he will be playing for a top club.
